Smoke and flames

During one of our lessons we were taught how to make fire and smoke particle effects and to my surprise how you do it is quite clever, this is how mine came out I think I went a bit OTT on the smoke considering how small the actual fire is.

The model itself was made by our tutor, I only programmed the fire/smoke.

STATUE

This is the WIP of my model, as you can see it is currently just a basic female model, currently missing one leg and both arms, but so far I think it looks good, even thought I still need to work on the feet, they are a bit of a mess.

These are my hands, I'm quite proud of them considering they are my first hands, even though the thumb is a bit off, (it kind of looks broken) but I think its because I modeled it off my wonky hands.

Final model with clothing and horns, I decided to not give her hair because I thought it looked cooler, I like bald women and It would be a pain to model them with the horns in the way.

close up of the base face.

Statue final update

This is my final model in the T-pose, the right one is smoothed and the left one isn't.

The previous 3 images are the UV maps for my statue the top one is the main body, the second one is the clothing and the last one is the eyes.

Even though they are very basic I think they came out well.

My statue from other angles

This is my statue in the scene as you can see I have also added a skybox.

Statue design

This is the turn around for my model, I  found the whole making a costume out of images on the internet thing very hard and was only able to find stuff for the front, so I just drew the other sides.

Using a side view and back view of a head I managed to model the head, I've done this before so I found it quite easy, we just had to do one side a mirror it to make a full head. I think it turned out quite well the only thing I really had trouble with was the ears but every one did and they apparently didn't matter so I just did a basic ear I will go back to it later though.

Using the same technique as I did for the head I made a hand which can easily be mirrored to the other side. The had was also pretty easy once I got started as the palm/thumb were hard but the fingers were easy as I just had to copy and paste them across the hand, I had help with the nails from my teacher.

3D Art Production

This is my battle arena so far, like the game-play and interactivity project I also found modeling difficult but even so, I think it turned out quite well and defiantly came together with the addiction of texturing of which I did with the ShaderFX hence why its all shiny from certain angles.

My favorite part has to be trees, (because they look the best) my teacher helped me a lot with the making of the leaves and branches because I found it hard to grasp he also helped me neaten up the overhanging rock because the polys were all over the place.

I actually really like the view from here, it looks like a nice place to fight with the ability to skip from fighting on the grass to fighting on the rocky area.
The skulls and the candles (2 of the 5 props in the arena, the other 3 being, coins and signboard and the trees)

The weird peanut thingy is the size comparison of a human
Some parts look a little funky but over all I think it turned out quite nice especially considering how stressed I got over it, all thats needed now is to move it into unity and fix the lighting.

This is what my battle arena looks like in Unity (I changed the lighting to make it look fancier)
you may notice some textures missing and that is because Unity doesn't like keeping the two textures I mapped, together. (I wasn't told this until afterwards) and after trying multiple times and getting stressed like hell I decided to just show what I could do and as my peers have said, it isn't that bad and one even thinks it looks great without the textures that are missing.
One of my attempts at fixing it (allfailed)

Rock and Column

I found this rock very easy, much much much easier than the Barrel and for that reason I found it fun but not as satisfying.

This column made me lose my mind but not as much as the barrel. I did need Phil to re-explain some parts to me as I didn't fully understand it the first time but I finally got it and after I got it I ended up helping some people around me complete theirs so I feel more confident making columns and could probably make it better but I think I need to leave it for a while otherwise I think I will die.

Barrel

Making this barrel was a very difficult and sanity draining exercise, but with the constant help of Phil I finally finished it even though it isn't amazing (mostly because I drew they lighting on the bottom and then just gave up) but i'm glad I finished it as I now could probably make it by myself again... just not the UV part, I still don't get that part.
